MISSION STATEMENT:

Devotion Conservancy is dedicated to the preservation, protection, and conservation of critically endangered galliform species, including heritage poultry and rare gamefowl breeds. The organization conducts conservation breeding programs, provides rescue and rehabilitation for endangered birds removed from abusive or neglectful conditions, and advances public education to promote biodiversity and ethical animal stewardship.

Devotion Conservancy is a Not for Profit 501(c)(3)

501(c)(3):  Devotion Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of critically endangered galliform species, including rare and heritage poultry and gamefowl breeds. Our work exists at the intersection of charitable conservation, public education, and the prevention of cruelty to animals, ensuring that these historically significant yet often overlooked birds are protected from extinction and neglect.

Through responsible conservation breeding programs, we safeguard the genetic integrity and biodiversity of endangered poultry lines. These efforts are designed to strengthen long-term population sustainability while maintaining the historical and biological characteristics that define each breed.

In addition to conservation breeding, Devotion Conservancy provides rescue, rehabilitation, and humane care for critically endangered galliform birds that have been abandoned, confiscated, or removed from abusive or neglectful conditions. Rescued birds receive appropriate housing, nutrition, veterinary care, and behavioral support. When appropriate, birds are maintained in lifelong sanctuary or placed in conservation-focused breeding or educational programs aligned with our mission.

Education is central to our work. We engage the public through outreach initiatives, exhibitions, educational materials, and community engagement that promote awareness of endangered poultry conservation, animal welfare, and ethical stewardship. By sharing knowledge and fostering understanding, we aim to inspire responsible care, preservation, and respect for these irreplaceable avian species.

Devotion Conservancy operates exclusively for the public benefit, guided by transparency, ethical governance, and a deep commitment to animal welfare. Through collaboration with conservation partners, breeders, and supporters, we strive to ensure that critically endangered galliform species are preserved and protected for generations to come.

Founder & President

Kathryn Reynolds

Kathryn T. Reynolds is the founder and president of Devotion Conservancy and a longtime breeder, exhibitor, and advocate for the preservation of critically endangered galliform species, with particular focus on rare and heritage gamefowl breeds such as the Aseel. Her work is rooted in the belief that these birds represent not only living genetic archives, but also an irreplaceable cultural and biological heritage deserving of deliberate conservation.

With decades of hands-on experience in conservation breeding, exhibition, and husbandry, Kathryn has dedicated her efforts to safeguarding genetic integrity in endangered poultry lines while advancing ethical, welfare-centered practices. Her commitment extends beyond breeding to include the rescue, rehabilitation, and lifelong care of birds that have been abandoned or removed from abusive or neglectful conditions.

Kathryn brings a strong professional background in writing, research, and education to her role. She holds a degree in English literature and has written monthly columns and feature articles for numerous publications. A published poet and photographer, she has contributed creative and educational work to magazines and exhibitions nationwide. Her interdisciplinary background supports Devotion Conservancy’s educational mission, translating complex conservation and genetic topics into accessible, engaging public outreach.

In addition to her conservation work, Kathryn has extensive experience in wildlife and avian rehabilitation and serves as an independent researcher in avian disease and health, including avian mycobacteria. Her research-driven approach emphasizes advanced nutrition, environmental management, and preventative care as critical tools in preserving rare poultry breeds.

Kathryn’s passion for Aseel chickens—often described as the “Rajahs of the poultry world”—reflects her broader conservation philosophy. She values their exceptional intelligence, ancient lineage, and unique genetics, and views their preservation as both a scientific responsibility and a moral obligation. Through Devotion Conservancy, she continues to champion a proactive, education-based approach to conservation that honors the past while protecting the future of endangered galliform species.
